Tournament time calculator
Estimate how long your event will run. Change the number of tables or the match lengths and see what it does to the finish time.
How the estimate works
Each round of matches is split across the tables you have: with 8 matches and 4 tables, the round takes two rounds of play. Each round of play lasts as long as one match plus the changeover. Rounds are played one after another, so no player waits for a table that is still in use by their next opponent. The consolation bracket runs alongside the main bracket, starting one round later after a knockout-only first round.
Real events run longer because of late players, long matches and tables that are not free at the same moment. Add 15 to 25 percent for a comfortable schedule, and run each category through the calculator separately, then add them if categories share tables. See the scheduling guide.
Typical match lengths: a best-of-three match between recreational players takes around 15 to 20 minutes; a best-of-five between strong players can take 30 to 40 minutes. Use your own experience if you have it.
